Bonduelle Expands German Production Site
With the completion of the extension to its Straelen plant in Germany, Bonduelle has confirmed its ambitions in the European market for its cut and washed range. The Straelen plant was opened by Bonduelle in 2003 in North Rhine-Westphalia and specialises in the production of cut and washed salads.
After seven months work and an investment of Eur6 million, the production capacity of the plant, almost ten years after being opened, has risen from 6,500 to 10,000 tonnes of salads.
The Straelen plant will produce up to 50 million packaged salads per year from 2014. It incorporates a floor area of 9,000 sq m, and employs 200 people.
Five production lines mean that it is considered to be one of the most modern salad processing units in Europe.
Bonduelle can now count on an ultra-efficient production tool that will strengthen its leadership position in the German market both for the Bonduelle brand and retail brands.
The Bonduelle group has been operating in Germany since 1969, has revenue of Eur210 million (€70 million of which is in the cut and washed range) and employs almost 330 people.
