The British Irish Chamber of Commerce has appointed Peter O’Shea, Head of Corporate and Regulatory Affairs at ESB, as its new President. Peter O’Shea (pictured) has been involved with the Chamber from the start and will take over the role from John Cronin, Partner at McCann FitzGerald. The Chamber also appointed Paul O’Connor, Partner, PWC as its new Vice President.

On accepting his new role, Peter O’Shea said: “The British Irish Chamber of Commerce has become a leading voice on matters relating to UK-Irish trade over the past number of years thanks to the dedicated work of previous Presidents, Members and the Chamber Executive. I look forward to working with all Chamber Members, our Director General and his Executive Team to build further on that platform.

“Brexit has resulted in sustained uncertainty for businesses on these islands over the last three years. During this time the British Irish Chamber of Commerce has striven to be a constructive voice in the debate putting forward solutions to the challenges that we collectively face. As we look to enter the next stage of the Brexit process, the Chamber will continue to offer business led solutions to help protect the jobs, commerce and prosperity that comes from our close trading ties.”
