Eoin O’Neill, the new President of the British Irish Chamber of Commerce has said it’s time to move on from handwringing about Brexit to giving the Irish and UK Governments practical business solutions to the new political reality.

Speaking at the Chamber’s AGM in PwC, Mr O’Neill said the Chamber’s member firms on both islands will play a key role to help governments address both the challenges and opportunities of Brexit. The Chamber has also announced the appointment of John Cronin of McCann Fitzgerald’s law firm as the new Vice President of the Chamber.

The British Irish Chamber of Commerce is a private sector trade organisation, founded in 2011 to represent businesses and employers with interests in the two islands of Great Britain and Ireland. The Chamber’s mission is to highlight, protect and grow the trade between Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales and England. That trade is worth €1.2 billion a week or €60 billion a year and it supports 400,000 jobs, about evenly between the two islands.
