Government mid-west plan aims for 23,000 new jobs
Jobs Minister Richard Bruton said the region – encompassing Clare, Limerick and Tipperary – suffered more than other areas during the crash and that 25,000 jobs had been lost there.
The plan aims to target growth in, among other sectors, aviation, engineering, and tourism.
“I am convinced that with the right support from Government through the Mid-West Plan, and by continuing the collaborative approach right across the region, we can deliver 23,000 extra jobs over the coming years. This would be 23,000 extra pay packets coming into communities and 23,000 lives back on track…that is a real challenge, but it is a goal well worth fighting for,” Mr Bruton said.
The plan aims to increase the number of startups in the region by 25pc and will see the establishment of a fund to assist new companies.
The Government also aims to grow the value of agri-food exports from the region by 85pc by 2025.
