Happy St. Patrick’s Day from Dublin Airport
Dublin Airport will welcome more than 376,000 passengers arriving and departing through the airport in the coming days for the St. Patrick’s Day celebrations. A variety of musical entertainment is scheduled for passengers flying in for St. Patrick’s Day with singing from Portmarnock Community School students and Dublin Airport staff performing in Terminals 1 and 2 to raise funds for daa’s three charity partners Merchant’s Quay Ireland, MS Ireland and My Canine Companion for Autism.
Both terminals feature festive decorations, and the ‘greening’ of prominent buildings, including Terminals 1, 2 and the original 1940s terminal building all add to the festive atmosphere around the airport this week.
“Once again Dublin Airport is participating in the Global Greening,” said daa spokesperson Siobhán O’Donnell. “This is our fourth year to green the airport and we’re lighting up more locations around the airport campus to bring the St. Patrick’s Day festival to life.”
This is also a big sporting week and 15 flights have been added to the schedule for the thousands of punters travelling to and from the Cheltenham and we also look forward to welcoming rugby fans arriving for the Ireland-England Six Nations match on Saturday.
Dublin Airport has welcomed more than 3.6 million passengers in the first two months of the year, which is a 6% increase on the same period in 2016. The airport has direct flights to 185 destinations in 41 countries operated by a total of 47 airlines.
Dublin Airport has the following advice for passengers travelling this weekend:
Passengers are advised to check which terminal their flight is departing from BEFORE leaving home. Aer Lingus, Emirates and all the US carriers operate from Terminal 2, while all other airlines operate from Terminal 1.
Passengers should plan to arrive at the terminal building at least 90 minutes before their flight departure time irrespective of whether they are checking in from home or at the airport. Some airlines advise passengers to arrive earlier than 90 minutes at busier times; passengers should consult their airline’s website before travelling to the airport.
