LinkedIn, the social network for business people and professionals, is currently opening 100 positions in Ireland.

Marking the fifth anniversary in Dublin today, LinkedIn announced that it is on course to surpass the 1,000 jobs milestone. The company currently employs 900 people in Ireland.

Last year the firm announced it was beginning the construction of a new 17,500 square metre building at Wilton Terrace in Dublin city centre for its international headquarters, which would enable it to double its workforce in the future.

Work has now begun on that building and it is due for completion in 2017, with 700 temporary construction jobs created as a result.

The currently open positions are for sales managers, insight analysts, applied scientists, HR managers and finance managers.

LinkedIn’s current office, beside the site where the new office is being built, was visited by the Taoiseach Enda Kenny today.

He welcomed the company’s continued expansion here, saying it was a fantastic endorsement for Ireland.

LinkedIn’s Dublin site lead, Sharon McCooey, said the Dublin office had grown from three to 900 staff in five short years.

Earlier this year, LinkedIn revealed that Google’s former boss in Ireland, John Herlihy, was joining the company as EMEA Managing Director.

LinkedIn is the world’s largest professional network with 300 million members in over 200 countries and territories around the globe.
