Musgrave to buy Wexford business
The Musgrave Group is to buy a Wexford food service business. The acquisition of Wexford-based C.J. O’Loughlin Quality Foods is subject to being cleared by the Competition Authority.
C.J. O’Loughlin Quality Foods was established in 1964 and supplies chilled, frozen, ambient and non-food products.
It is headquartered on the outskirts of Gorey and also operates a depot in Kilkenny.
The cost of the deal has not been released and the sale is conditional on being cleared by the competition authority, according to business website bizplus.ie.
Musgrave Group is an Irish food wholesaler, founded in Cork by the Musgrave brothers, Thomas and Stuart in 1876. It is currently Ireland’s largest grocery distributor, with operations in Ireland, United Kingdom and Spain. It is the largest private company in Ireland by turnover, with annual sales of over €4 billion.
