Chief executive Emmet O’Neill told RTE’s Morning Ireland that the company was “playing with those ideas at the moment”.
“Where we do have sites that are small forecourts, often what we find now is the demand is for food there as opposed to for fuel,” he said.
He said the move could potentially save money because of current fuel prices.
Mr O’Neill was speaking after the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission approved Topaz’s purchase of Esso’s Irish fuels and convenience business.
He would not reveal the price paid for Esso but said Topaz plans to spend €15m-€18m to “do everything [Topaz] wants to do” with the acquired outlets.
