Wayfair to create 160 jobs for Galway

US-owned online furnishing and homewares retailer Wayfair is to announce 160 new jobs for Galway this morning.
Wayfair currently employs 200 people in the city and specialises in home furnishings and décor. The compnay is planning to expand its new European Operations Centre on the Tuam Road in the building formerly known as Connaught House.
The IDA Ireland backed investment will see Wayfair hiring call centre personnel for the European market.
It is also offering a number of marketing and sales positions.
Globally, the company employs more than 2,000 people, with a presence in the US, Britain, Australia and Germany. In recent times, it has been focusing particularly on the German market.
