Winners of the 2020 IMR Manufacturing and Supply Chain Awards
The winners of the 2020 IMR Manufacturing and Supply Chain Awards were revealed at a special ceremony and gala dinner held recently at the Citywest Hotel in Dublin. A total of 18 awards were presented, covering the main sectors of the Irish manufacturing industry and its supply chain.
Boston Scientific won two awards, with its Clonmel operation being named the Lean Manufacturing Company of the Year and its Cork business winning the Best Use of Robotics accolade. The Micro/SME and Large Manufacturing Company of the Year categories were won respectively by Ventac and Dell Technologies. All the winners are listed below.
The IMR Manufacturing and Supply Chain Awards showcase exceptional achievement, teamwork and innovation in Irish manufacturing. The Awards competition was established to highlight the implementation of smart thinking to enable competitive manufacturing, while reflecting Ireland’s capacity to deliver world class manufacturing and attract inward investment.
The recipients of the IMR Manufacturing and Supply Chain Awards exemplified all of these characteristics such as cutting edge research & innovation, best in class manufacturing and outstanding teamwork as well as the valuable contributions being made to the both the regional and national economy.
Having won the ICT Manufacturing Team of the Year Award, Mergon International was also named as the IMR Manufacturer of the Year, after being selected by the Judging Panel from all of the other various category winners.
An award for Outstanding Contribution to Industry was bestowed on Intel Ireland.
The Life Time Achievement Award was conferred on Michael (Mick) Guinee, Chairman, CEO and Co-founder of Shannon-based Ei Electronics, which, under his leadership, has become one of Ireland’s leading indigenous electronics manufacturing and exporting companies.
Now in their second year, the Awards are run by Premier Publishing & Events, the Dublin-based international conference and exhibition organiser and publisher, in association with Irish Manufacturing Research (IMR), the independent not-for-profit Research Organisation, funded under the Enterprise Ireland/IDA Technology Centres programme, to provide applied research solutions and advanced manufacturing expertise, technology transfer and training to the manufacturing sector in Ireland.
The IMR Manufacturing and Supply Chain Awards marked a fitting conclusion to the opening day of the 2020 National Manufacturing & Supply Chain Conference & Exhibition, which was held at the nearby Citywest Convention Centre.
