WS Atkins records pre-tax losses
WS Atkins one of the world’s leading providers of professional based consulting and support services recorded pre-tax losses of €105,952 last year.
Expansion costs at the firm resulted in the company going into the red.
Accounts filed by the engineering consultancy firm show that the firm increased its workforce by 18pc to cater for anticipated increased demand for its services.
Gross profit increased by 4pc, from €2.34m to €2.44m, in the 12 months to the end of March 31 last year.
The pre-tax loss in 2015 followed a modest pre-tax profit of €542 in 2014.
The firm has recently won the award for Engineering Practice of the Year 2015 in Ireland.
The firm has offices in Cork, Dublin and Galway and recently-filed accounts show that the firm recorded pre-tax losses of €105,679 after paying out €158,679 in interest charges.
WS Atkins did record an operating profit of €52,727 that was wiped out by the interest charges.
Atkins employs 160 staff in Ireland with offices in Dublin, Cork, Galway and Belfast.
Atkins is also Europe’s largest multidisciplinary consultancy.
